RICHMOND, VA, August 13, 2025 – Glen Sturtevant, an accomplished trial attorney with Rawls Law Group, has been named Chair of the American Association for Justice's Federal Tort Liability and Military Advocacy Section. The section focuses on claims against the federal government under the Federal Tort Claims Act, the Military Claims Act, and other federal tort liability issues, as well as challenges to the Feres Doctrine.

Sturtevant brings extensive experience in federal tort litigation to his new leadership role, with a state-wide and national practice representing clients in complex civil litigation, including Federal Tort Claims against the Department of Veterans Affairs, military facilities, Indian Health Service, and federally-funded hospitals and clinics. He also specializes in vaccine injury claims before the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program and has handled cases involving conditions such as SIRVA injuries, Guillain-Barre Syndrome, and other serious vaccine-related complications.

"Federal tort law presents unique challenges for attorneys representing veterans and their families who have been harmed by government negligence," said Sturtevant. "Through this leadership role, I'm committed to advancing the practice of federal tort litigation, sharing critical resources with our section members, and ensuring that those who have served our country receive the justice they deserve when the system fails them."

Sturtevant has been consistently recognized as a Rising Star in Virginia Super Lawyers and was named a Leader in the Law by Virginia Lawyers Weekly. He is a graduate of the National Trial Advocacy College at the University of Virginia School of Law and completed his legal studies at George Mason University School of Law, graduating in 2006.

Beyond his legal practice, Sturtevant serves as a member of the Virginia State Senate, having been elected in 2024 after previously serving from 2016 to 2020. He has also served on the Richmond School Board and has led the Virginia State Bar's provision of legal services to survivors of natural disasters, mass emergencies, and terrorist attacks affecting the Commonwealth.

Rawls Law Group, founded in 1996, specializes in VA & Military Medical Malpractice, vaccination injury cases, and medical malpractice throughout Virginia, representing clients nationwide. The firm's staff includes veterans of the United States military, enabling them to truly appreciate and anticipate the unique needs of their veteran and military family clients.

The American Association for Justice's Federal Tort Liability and Military Advocacy Section provides critical resources for attorneys who represent individuals in claims against the federal government. Section members work on complex cases involving military medical malpractice, veterans' healthcare negligence, and other instances where federal entities may be liable for injuries to service members, veterans, and their families.

"Glen's combination of extensive federal tort experience, his commitment to veterans' rights, and his leadership abilities make him an ideal choice to chair this vital section," said Brewster Rawls, founder of Rawls Law Group. "His dedication to both his clients and the broader legal community will benefit attorneys nationwide who are fighting for justice on behalf of those harmed by federal negligence."

Under Sturtevant's leadership, the Federal Tort Liability and Military Advocacy Section will continue to provide members with cutting-edge legal strategies, trial techniques, and resources necessary to successfully litigate cases against federal entities and achieve full recovery of damages for their clients.
