Glen H. Sturtevant is a medical malpractice trial lawyer with Rawls Law Group who represents
injured patients and families in serious medical negligence cases throughout Virginia and across
the country.

Glen’s practice is devoted entirely to medical malpractice. He represents people harmed by
negligent care at private hospitals, physician practices, emergency departments, surgical centers,
nursing homes, long-term care facilities, and other healthcare providers. He also represents
veterans, servicemembers, military families, and other patients in medical malpractice claims
against the federal government under the Federal Tort Claims Act.

For more than 20 years, Glen has handled hundreds of medical malpractice matters involving
catastrophic injury and death. His cases include delayed diagnosis, failure to diagnose cancer,
surgical errors, emergency-room negligence, radiology mistakes, stroke, infection and sepsis,
birth injuries, medication errors, nursing failures, falls, pressure injuries, and failures to follow
up on abnormal test results.

Virginia medical malpractice cases require careful investigation, strong expert support, and a
clear understanding of how medical negligence claims are proven. Glen works with clients and
medical experts to identify what went wrong, determine whether the care violated the applicable
standard of care, and prove how that failure caused harm. He understands that many families
come to a lawyer after months or years of unanswered questions. His focus is on getting those
answers and building the strongest possible case for accountability.

Glen also has substantial experience with Federal Tort Claims Act medical malpractice claims
involving negligent care at Department of Veterans Affairs facilities, military hospitals and
clinics, Indian Health Service facilities, and federally funded health centers. FTCA cases involve
strict deadlines, administrative claim requirements, federal procedures, and complicated
interactions between federal law and the law of the state where the malpractice occurred. Glen
has won favorable law in federal FTCA medical malpractice litigation on issues involving
government deadline arguments, agency communications with injured patients, and equitable
tolling.

Glen has represented clients in Virginia state court and federal court, and he has served on trial
teams in medical malpractice cases around the country. Whether a case involves a private
Virginia hospital or a federal healthcare provider, Glen approaches the work with the same goal:
to prove what happened, explain it clearly, and pursue meaningful justice for the client.
Glen is Chair of the American Association for Justice’s Federal Tort Liability and Military
Advocacy Section. He has been selected to Super Lawyers for plaintiff medical malpractice and
was previously recognized for many years as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers. He was also
named a “Leader in the Law” by Virginia Lawyers Weekly and is a graduate of the National Trial
Advocacy College at the University of Virginia School of Law.

Glen is also committed to public service. He currently serves in the Senate of Virginia, where his
committee work includes service on the Courts of Justice Committee. He previously served on
the Richmond School Board and has helped lead the Virginia State Bar’s efforts to provide legal
services to survivors of natural disasters, mass emergencies, and terrorist attacks affecting the
Commonwealth.

A Virginia native, Glen understands the trust patients and families place in doctors, hospitals,
nurses, and healthcare systems. When that trust is broken, his work is focused on helping clients
get answers, protect their rights, and pursue the compensation they need to move forward.
If you or a loved one was seriously injured by medical negligence in Virginia, at a VA facility, at
a military medical facility, or at another federally supported healthcare provider, Glen and the
Rawls Law Group team can evaluate your potential claim and help you understand your options.
